QOC
Irish Tour
A
very successful event that was well attended by members from
all over the UK. It was a good opportunity for all involved
to explore the Irish countryside and the Guiness! A big thanks
much go to Ali and Andy Heaton for their organisation of the
event, plus the help from Nuala and Pacshal Carroll who provided
some local knowledge, Sunday breakfast at the begining of
the tour and the BBQ at the end. Also a big thank you to all
in the Irish Kit Car Club who organised a run over some very
scenic routes, at least that's what they told us, since the
weather prevented us seeing much of it! Look out for a full
report in the next Quantum Mechanics (QM53), due out very
soon.
QOC
Communication
For
those members that didn't make that SGM and haven't supplied
a current email address on their membership form (we are in
new membership year that started in June, so if you haven't
renewed now is the time to do it!) you might not be aware
that we have created a new SmartGroup specifically for club
members to allow the Committee to send out announcements to
you quickly. Those for whom we have current email addresses,
should have already received an email invitation to the group
and a number of you have already signed up. This leaves members
who's email address is either out of date or missing from
our records. If you have yet to receive an invitation please
could you email me off this list, from the email account you
wish to use, with your name and membership number, as this
is a private club members list only and should be very low
on traffic as only the QOC Committee members will be allowed
to post. The detail are required to verify that you are a
current club member. If anyone has any questions please contact
me of any of the other committee members.
SGM
News
The
SGM took place on 9 June 2005 and detail of what happened
can be found in the members
only area of the club website.
SGM
Notice
As
of 9 June 2005 the Club Chairman has received a written petition,
signed by 27 fully paid up members of the Club to call an
SGM, as allowed for in the Club Constitution. All Club members
are advised to enter the members
only section of this website for full details.
End
to End in 24 Hours Trophy
At
it's AGM during the Stoneleigh show this year the Quantum
Owners Club presented a trophy to commemorate the fund raising
effort of 22 drivers in 11 cars who completed the John O'Groats
to Lands End journey in under 24 hours in June 2003. In they
process they raised £10,000 between them for NCH,
the National Children’s home. Shown
right with the trophy are Jan Haines, John Deverson, Andy
Heaton and Eddie Ruskin (not pictured) who were the main organisers
behind the event, however congratulations should be passed
on to all the drivers (left) who successfully completed the
event. The trophy is now proudly on display in the Quantum
Sports Cars showroom in Loddiswell, Devon.
QOC
15th Birthday
The
Quantum Owners Club celebrated it's 15th at the Stoneleigh
show this year. Seen here is Charles Williams, the club's
first Editor cutting the birthday cake at the clubs AGM.
The
QOC was created early in 1990 by Peter Crawford from Royston
in Herts who, having built a white Series One Saloon, in his
own words, "had a wild fit of enthusiasm to start an
owners club". Helped by his wife Pat and their two sons,
they put the very first newsletter together in Summer 1990.
It got off to a great start with this first issue (as then
unnamed) mailed to over sixty people.QOC From those humble
beginnings the Club grew strongly helped by contributors such
as Graham Lindley who, in early 1992, along with Adam Sleightholme,
as Treasurer and Charles Williams as Editor, formed the first
committee.

and I are now into the planning stage for the quantum owners
club tour of 2005 so if your not decided on your holiday next
year come and have a week in Ireland. We have so far got five
routes planned for your interest seeing some of the most beautiful
and breathtaking scenery in Ireland.
The plan shall be to accommodate us in self catering chalets
in central Ireland and then day trip from our central location.
We are in consultation with the Irish kit car clubs to come
and tour with us. The hope is we can get enough members together
for a meeting at Mondello
Park race circuit for a little entertainment.... yes those
who wish can enjoy a session at their own pace on the circuit.
The
details Alison and I need to move forward so we can get the
best deals are as follows:
1, Who would like to attend.
2, How many families attending.
3, Would you mind sharing accommodation.
4, Would you prefer the slow boat to Ireland.
5, Would you prefer the fast boat to Ireland.
6, Would you like to participate at Mondello Park race circuit
at a pace that suits you.
As
we are celebrating the 15th year of the QOC next year it would
be great to have an end of tour party, so hopefully Ali and
I can amalgamate this with the mondello park visit so let
us know ASAP, so we can all have a great holiday and follow
on from the success of the Scottish tour of 2004. The cost
is under £320 per person.
